Abstract

This study aims to describe the efforts of teachers in implementing active learning at MIS Fathul Munir Dufa-Dufa, Ternate City, focusing on the subjects of Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS), Indonesian Language, and Civics Education (PPKn), as well as the supporting and inhibiting factors and the strategies teachers use to overcome those obstacles. A descriptive qualitative approach was used, with the headmaster and the grade V teacher as subjects. Data were collected through participant observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. The results show that active learning was implemented through discussion, question-and-answer sessions, direct-experience-based learning, the use of instructional media such as television and projectors, and heterogeneous grouping of students. Supporting factors included the availability of facilities and headmaster support through academic supervision, teacher working groups, and training, while inhibiting factors included variation in student engagement, limited instructional time, and suboptimal use of technology. Teachers addressed these obstacles through heterogeneous grouping, engaging instructional media, direct guidance, motivational reinforcement, continuing professional development, and academic supervision.
