Abstract

This study aims to analyze and explain the role of economic literacy and the use of social media in fostering students’ entrepreneurial interest. The phenomenon of high educated unemployment rates, combined with the rapid advancement of information technology, makes both factors strategic in encouraging the growth of an entrepreneurial spirit among the younger generation. This research adopts a quantitative approach using a survey method conducted among university students. Data were collected through questionnaires and subsequently analyzed using descriptive statistics and multiple linear regression analysis. The results indicate that economic literacy has a positive and significant effect on entrepreneurial interest, as a sound understanding of concepts such as costs, profits, risks, and financial management enhances students’ confidence to start a business. Furthermore, the utilization of social media also proves to play a positive role by serving as an accessible source of information, a platform for exchanging ideas, expanding professional networks, and promoting products in an efficient and cost-effective manner. When combined, these two variables contribute even more significantly to shaping students’ desire to enter the business world. In conclusion, improving economic literacy and using social media appropriately are key factors in nurturing new prospective entrepreneurs within higher education institutions.
