Abstract

The Indonesian fashion industry has experienced significant growth, supported by the creativity of designers, the development of local brands, and the influence of global trends. This article examines the role of fundamental fashion principles in stimulating creativity and strengthening the identity of Indonesian fashion. Principles including line, shape, color, texture, proportion, balance, rhythm, harmony, and unity provide an essential foundation for developing aesthetically appealing, functional, and contextually relevant designs. Mastery of these principles enables designers to transform creative ideas into innovative works while integrating visual aesthetics, comfort, and cultural identity. In Indonesia, their application also supports the development of cultural assets, including batik, woven textiles, and sharia-compliant clothing, enhancing their competitiveness in national and international markets. Therefore, fundamental fashion principles function not only as theoretical concepts but also as strategic foundations for fostering creativity, innovation, and cultural identity in the Indonesian fashion industry.
