Abstract

This study aimed to improve the early numeracy skills of Group B children at TK Insan Qur’ani Sembalun through the use of natural objects as learning media. Employing a classroom action research design, the study adopted the Kemmis and McTaggart model comprising planning, action, observation, and reflection conducted in two cycles. The participants were 15 Group B children. Data were collected through systematic observation and documentation and analyzed descriptively using percentage analysis. The findings demonstrated a progressive improvement in children’s early numeracy skills. The achievement increased from a low baseline condition to 63% in Cycle I and 84% in Cycle II, surpassing the predetermined success criterion of 80%. These findings indicate that the use of natural objects, including leaves, pebbles, and seeds, provides meaningful and contextual learning experiences that support children’s early numeracy development. Therefore, natural-object-based learning can be considered an effective instructional strategy for strengthening early numeracy skills in early childhood education.
